Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Maryland is seeking a Medical Assistant / Medical Office Specialist to support patient flow, take vitals, and enter data into the EMR while assisting with routine office procedures.

The role includes chaperoning clinicians, handling pre‑ and post‑op photos, stocking rooms, and processing specimens. A $1500 sign‑on bonus is available for select positions through 12/31/2026.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year experience as Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic preferred.
• Excellent communication and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vitals.
• Enter patient information into EMR.
• Set up and assist with office procedures.
• Chaperone providers during patient examination.
• Take pre‑op and post‑op photos of patients.
• Maintain surgical instruments and transport to CSS.
• Process surgical specimens and transport to Pathology.
• Maintain and stock exam rooms.
• Order clinical supplies.
• Complete FMLA and Disability forms.
• Clean and reset exam rooms.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for:

• Room patients and obtaining vitals
• Entering patient information into electronic medical record (EMR)
• Setting up and assisting with office procedures
• Chaperone providers during patient examination
• Taking pre‑op and post‑op photos of patients
• Maintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS)
• Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to Pathology
• Maintaining and stocking exam rooms
• Ordering clinical supplies
• Completing FMLA and Disability forms
• Cleaning and resetting exam rooms
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic

Salary Information

Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
