Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a PRN Medical Office Specialist for the Cardiology Department. The role supports Cardiology physicians in an outpatient setting, with a mix of back-office and front-office tasks, including check-in, insurance verification, referrals and scheduling.

Includes opportunities to work across Mercy sites, with emphasis on accurate documentation, scheduling, and patient-centered care in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office setting.
• CPR certification preferred.
• May travel to satellite offices.

Responsibilities

Provides general Medical Assistant assistance to Cardiology physicians in an outpatient setting within the hospital or Hub Sites. The staff member demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served. In addition, the staff member demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients.

Front Desk and back office support for Cardiology Providers. The position is 80%-90% back office with some front office support when needed. Front office consists of patient check in, verifying insurance and requirements of that insurance i.e. referrals / authorizations, co-pay collections and scheduling of visits, testing and procedures as needed. The staff member demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served. In addition, the staff member demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Requirements

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of one year experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Salary Information

Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
