Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a Medical Assistant to room patients, obtain vitals, and manage EMR entries in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role supports pre- and post-procedure steps, chaperones providers, and helps maintain clean, stocked exam areas across multiple satellite locations.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic experience; CPR is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year experience as Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vitals.
• Enter patient information into EMR.
• Set up and assist with office procedures.
• Chaperone providers during patient examination.
• Take pre-op and post-op photos of patients.
• Maintain and transport surgical instruments to CSS and Pathology.
• Stock and clean exam rooms.
• Order clinical supplies.
• Complete FMLA and Disability forms.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for:

• Room patients and obtaining vitals
• Entering patient information into electronic medical record (EMR)
• Setting up and assisting with office procedures
• Chaperone providers during patient examination
• Taking pre-op and post-op photos of patients
• Maintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS)
• Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to Pathology
• Maintaining and stocking exam rooms
• Ordering clinical supplies
• Completing FMLA and Disability forms
• Cleaning and resetting exam rooms
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic

Salary Information

Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
