Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Scheduler to join our San Antonio clinic. This full-time role supports appointment and test scheduling, serves as a liaison between patients and medical staff, and handles insurance authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 0–3 years’ experience in a medical office. Proficiency in MS Office and strong communication skills are expected, with a focus on accurate, timely scheduling and patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-3 years’ experience preferably in a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding a plus.
• Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls; assesses callers’ needs and directs to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules new patients, patient referrals and returning patients in the system per physician/office guidelines.
• Obtains and enters all insurance authorization and referrals in EMR.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket amounts at time of visit.
• Maintains primary scheduling template including physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
• Arranges for financial counseling as needed and protects patient confidentiality.
