Job summary

Yancey County is seeking an Income Maintenance Caseworker II for Medicaid to determine eligibility, process redeterminations, and manage a caseload using NC FAST and related systems. You will interview clients, gather data, verify information, and apply state guidelines to determine benefits.

The ideal candidate uses strong communication to explain program requirements, refer to additional services, and ensure timely processing while adhering to deadlines.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or equivalent training.
• Knowledge of program areas; strong mathematical reasoning.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules; communicate with clients and officials.
• Ability to supervise lower-level employees.
• Must be 21+ with NC driver’s license.
• Education: assoc degree in listed fields or high school with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine applicant eligibility for Medicaid programs (Adult and Family & Children’s).
• Interview clients to obtain required information and complete initial applications.
• Verify information, determine eligibility, or complete program reviews using NC FAST and other systems.
• Explain program requirements to clients and refer to other services as appropriate.
• Apply state guidelines and processes in determining benefits.
