Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Mechanicsville, VA seeks a Med Tech to provide quality resident care and assist with medication administration within the scope of practice.

You will support daily living activities, document care in the EMAR/MAR, and participate in training and audits. The role requires CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days, and a flexible schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed the Medication Aide Course.
• Must possess CNA and Med Tech licenses in good standing.
• Must satisfactorily pass 2 medication observations annually.
• Must satisfactorily pass all medication cart audits.
• Must complete 4 additional hours of medication administration education annually.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
• Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Assist with administration of prescribed medications within scope of practice.
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures related to the position.
• Report incidents and care concerns to appropriate staff.
• Assist residents with meals, activities, and mobility.
• Complete medication cart audits and maintain the cart.
• Document medication administration in EMAR/MAR and Daily Log.
• Re-order medications and communicate changes to families as needed.
• Support resident move-in transitions with emotional support.
• Attend medication training sessions and participate in team meetings.
• Perform housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
• Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
