Job summary

The Med/Surg unit at University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a front-line team member to greet families and patients as they arrive and to respond calmly in urgent situations.

This role handles patient, family and staff inquiries, performs clerical duties, assists the care team, maintains a clean and safe environment, and supports smooth unit operations with strong customer service.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a medical and/or customer service secretary preferred.
• May require 2–3 weeks of detailed orientation and training with a mentor.

Responsibilities

• Greet families and patients as they arrive on the unit.
• Calmly and appropriately respond in urgent situations.
• Handle patient, family and staff inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Multitask and prioritize; perform clerical duties on the assigned unit.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Assist the patient care team with various patient care activities.
• Maintain a strong customer service focus for smooth unit operation.
