Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
• 12 months Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care preferred.
• Current California Nursing license.
• BLS & ACLS as applicable; CPI Blue Card within 90 days preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the nursing process as a problem-solving model, planning care to meet patient and family needs.
• Nursing assessment targets areas most productive for the patient population; prioritizes and organizes care.
• Provides age-appropriate care using current literature and critical thinking for sound clinical decisions.
• Demonstrates commitment to patient satisfaction in interactions with patients and families.
• Maintains therapeutic nurse-patient relationships and conducts hourly rounds.
• Communicates using SBAR during hand-offs.
• Documents assessment, IPOC, and care plan per policies and Watson Model.
• Anticipates variables affecting comfort and adjusts interventions accordingly.
• Supports learning needs of patients and families and utilizes resources for positive outcomes.
• Works with Care Managers on discharge planning for defined patient population.
• Reviews orders, communicates changes to physicians, and follows up with revised care plans.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and documents outcomes.
• Utilizes patient classification system per standards.
• Supervises and evaluates ancillary staff and floats; ensures shift evaluations.
• Ensures professional appearance and ID badge; adheres to dress code.
• Maintains safe, clean environment aligned with regulatory standards including Patient Safety Goals.
• Participates in Quality and Performance Improvement activities and unit training.
