Qualifications

• Bachelor in Nursing degree
• Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent
• Internal MLKCH Versant Nurse Residency Program considered
• Current California Nursing license
• Basic EKG competence
• Certification in Progressive Critical Care Nursing preferred
• Certification in Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred
• Dysrhythmia course certificate preferred
• EMR experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required or preferred
• CPI Blue Card within 90 days of hire or requirement notification

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates nursing process as a problem-solving model and plans to meet patient/family needs.
• Nursing assessment targets areas most productive for patient population and escalates as needed.
• Provides age-appropriate care and applies current literature to clinical decisions.
• Supports patient satisfaction through interactions with patients, families, and staff.
• Maintains therapeutic nurse/patient relationships and conducts hourly patient rounds.
• Uses SBAR in all hand-offs and communications.
• Documents assessment, IPOC, implementation, and evaluation per hospital policies.
• Anticipates variables affecting patient comfort and supports patient participation in recovery.
• Meets learning needs of patients and families with appropriate resources.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary discharge planning with care managers.
• Reviews orders, communicates changes to physician and team, follows up with revised care.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and documents IPOC outcomes.
• Uses patient classification system per standards.
• Plans, supervises, and evaluates ancillary staff, floats, and registries; completes shift evaluations.
• Upholds professional appearance and hospital identification, maintains safety standards.
• Participates in Quality and Performance Improvement activities and reporting.
• Assists with unit orientation of new employees.
• Assists with unit setup of equipment and rooms.
• Contributes to Care Collaborative System training for new employees.
• Participates in integrated testing for the Care Collaborative System.
• Provides basic hygiene and ADL assistance to patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
