Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital is seeking a skilled Clinical Staff Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient/family-centered care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit.

The role reports to the Manager of Medical-Surgical Telemetry and requires a 12‑hour shift pattern while aligning with the Watson Model of Care and hospital mission. Responsibilities include nursing process application, focused assessments, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
• 12 months of Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care preferred.
• Current California Nursing license.
• Basic EKG competence.
• CCRN/ Critical Care cert preferred.
• Surgical/Medical Nursing cert preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates use of nursing process to anticipate and plan for patient/family needs.
• Performs focused nursing assessments and prioritizes care.
• Provides age-appropriate care across patient populations.
• Maintains patient satisfaction through communication and care.
• Establishes therapeutic nurse/patient relationships and conducts hourly rounds.
• Uses SBAR for hand-offs and communicates changes in patient condition promptly.
• Documents care in IPOC following policies.
• Anticipates variables affecting comfort and adapts interventions.
• Supports patient/family learning and uses resources to improve outcomes.
• Coordinates discharge planning with Care Managers.
• Reviews orders and collaborates with physicians; follows up with changes.
• Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and documents outcomes.
• Plans and supervises nursing staff and floats; conducts shift evaluations.
• Maintains professional appearance and adheres to ID and safety standards.
• Participates in unit Quality and Performance Improvement activities.
• Assists with unit orientation and equipment setup.
