Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Nurse Aide- Med Surg Float- Full Time, Days. Under RN supervision, you will perform routine nursing duties to ensure patient comfort and safety while maintaining clean rooms and assisting with procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS, and strong communication skills. You will participate in orientation, deliver care across units, and support staff to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• BLS certification (AHA) and first aid training.
• De-escalation training provided on the job.
• Ability to read and write at elementary level to understand the plan of care.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic for weight and intake/output.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families.
• Basic analytical skills to gather data and report outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic nursing care to meet patient comfort and safety needs.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and relay information to staff.
• Observe patients and report changes to the nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for procedures and keep areas clean.
• Document intake and output and monitor nutrition and hydration.
• Ensure patient identification before care delivery and maintain safety.
• Participate in educational programs and comply with meetings.
