Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Nurse Aide to support Med Surg Float services on a full-time, day shift. Under RN supervision, you’ll perform basic nursing tasks, assist with daily living activities, and help prepare rooms for procedures.

The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate documentation, and collaboration with nursing staff. A high school diploma and BLS/first aid are required, with commitment to continuous learning and quality care.

Qualifications

• BLS certification (AHA) and first aid training.
• De-escalation training provided on job.
• Ability to read and write at an elementary school level to understand the patient's plan of care and to record data on the patient's medical record
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations at an elementary school level to take and record the patient's weight, vital signs, I&O
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity
• Basic analytical skills to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret, and report outcomes to the nurse or document on the medical record
• Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must possess excellent customer service skills
• High School Diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic nursing care to meet patient needs.
• Responds to patient's call lights promptly and relay information to nursing staff.
• Observe patient and report any change in condition to the nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and nourishment.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for diagnostic procedures and maintain a safe environment.
• Participate in patient rounds and ensure patient safety.
