Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Nurse Aide for Med Surg Float, full-time nights. Under RN supervision, you perform routine nursing duties to ensure patient comfort, safety, and well-being; maintain clean, orderly patient areas and assist with diagnostic setup.

You will help with room prep, participate in orientation of new staff, and collaborate with management to improve care quality. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and responsive patient support across units.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification (AHA) and first aid training required.
• De‑escalation training provided on the job.
• Ability to read/write at elementary level to understand plan of care and record data.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic for weight, vitals, I&O.

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic nursing care to meet patient needs.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and relay to nursing staff.
• Observe patient and report changes to the nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living and hygiene.
• Prepare room and equipment for diagnostic procedures.
• Participate in orientation of new staff.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized patient environment.
