Job summary

BioCT Innovation Commons seeks a Mechatronics Engineer to integrate robotic and lab-automation hardware and bring systems online for safe, reusable workflows. You will wire, troubleshoot, and validate control systems across electrical and mechanical interfaces, collaborating with multiple teams to deliver reliable automation.

Responsibilities include system bring-up, documentation, and operator enablement, with a focus on safe, scalable deployments and continuous improvement of system

Qualifications

• Education/experience: MS + 0 years, or BS + 4 years in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Includes at least 2+ years integrating lab or industrial automation hardware (robots, conveyors, fixtures, sensors, controllers, and I/O).
• Hands-on robotic or automation integration experience with mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and PLC hardware.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, BOMs, and test docs.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, controls and software interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Integrate robotic and lab-automation hardware (robot arms, conveyors, fixtures, sensors, safety devices).
• Build and troubleshoot electrical and control-system interfaces (PLC, I/O, sensors, actuators, wiring).
• Perform system bring-up with power/signal checks and readiness assessments.
• Collaborate with Lab Orchestration, Data Engineering, Delivery to transition systems to workflows.
• Support verification of instrument connectivity (serial/Ethernet, vision, RFID, barcode).
• Troubleshoot integration issues across mechanical, electrical, controls, software boundaries; root cause analysis.
