AstraZeneca plc is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer — Robotics Integration & Delivery to join the Advanced Robotics & Data Orchestration Team in New Haven, CT. Qualifications

• MS + 0 years or BS + 4 years in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 2+ years integrating lab or industrial automation hardware (robots, conveyors, fixtures, sensors, controllers, and I/O).
• Hands-on robotic/automation integration including mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, control panels or PLC hardware, I/O verification, sensor/actuator integration, and system bring-up.
• Interpret and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, BOMs, and commissioning/test documentation.
• Troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software interfaces; communicate status to stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems, industrial I/O, relays, sensors, actuators, and control-system troubleshooting.
• Collaborative mindset with orchestration/software, data engineers, and scientists/operators; clear, practical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Integrate robotic and lab-automation hardware (robot arms, conveyors, tooling, enclosures, sensors, safety devices).
• Build and troubleshoot electrical and control-system interfaces (PLC, I/O, relays, sensors, actuators).
• Perform system bring-up: power/signal checks, I/O verification, calibration, first motion, dry-runs, readiness assessments.
• Collaborate with Lab Orchestration, Data Engineering, Delivery, scientists to transition systems into workflows.
• Support verification of instrument connectivity (digital/analog I/O, serial/Ethernet, barcode/RFID, vision).
• Troubleshoot live integration issues; drive root-cause analyses and corrective actions across domains.
• Create/maintain delivery docs: drawings, wiring, BOMs, commissioning checklists, test results, logs, procedures, handoffs.
• Support operators with demonstrations, checklists, training, workflow feedback, and early-life support.
