Job summary

RFA Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to join the on‑site team in Pontiac, IL, focusing on development and validation of mechanical products and components. You will perform hands‑on laboratory testing and engineering analysis, collaborating with experienced staff to drive product quality and performance.

Responsibilities include executing tests, creating drawings and documentation, and supporting design verification and root‑cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 2-4 years of mechanical engineering, product development, testing, or validation experience.
• Experience with mechanical design, engineering drawings, and three‑dimensional computer‑aided design.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics, and test data.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to document and communicate technical findings.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development and validation of mechanical components and systems.
• Develop, execute, and document mechanical testing to evaluate performance, durability, and reliability.
• Create and review engineering drawings, models, specifications, test procedures, and technical documentation.
• Develop and maintain 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using Creo.
• Coordinate engineering analysis and use analysis results to support product design and validation decisions.
• Perform tolerance stack‑ups, O‑ring calculations, bolted joint analysis, and other mechanical engineering calculations.
• Work with suppliers and cross‑functional engineering teams to support component development and product quality.
• Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, technical documentation, and test results to evaluate project feasibility and product performance.
• Communicate test results, engineering recommendations, and project status to engineering and cross‑functional teams.
