Job summary

RFA Engineering seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join its Pontiac, IL site for hands-on product development and design refinement. The role focuses on guiding NPI from concept to production, creating CAD models and drawings with Creo, and performing DFMEA alongside validation planning.

You will coordinate analyses, validate components with suppliers, and drive improvements through structured problem solving. A 2+ year track record in product development and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of demonstrated product development experience.
• Experience with mechanical design and engineering problem-solving.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawing creation (Creo preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and test results.
• Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience supporting prototype, pilot, and production builds.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development (NPI) activities from concept through production release.
• Create and update 3D models and engineering drawings using Creo or similar CAD software.
• Participate in DFMEA, validation planning, and product development reviews.
• Coordinate engineering analyses including tolerance stack-ups and sealing calculations.
• Work with suppliers to support component development and issue resolution.
• Plan and conduct component measurements, assembly activities, and validation testing.
• Investigate product failures and root causes using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D.
• Disassemble and inspect components to evaluate performance post-testing.
• Document engineering findings and compare pre- and post-test data.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and validation teams to drive improvements.
• Maintain and update engineering documentation and release packages.
• Present technical findings to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
