Job summary

Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a Vontier company, seeks a Lab Technician II for environmental compliance, lab maintenance, and testing support. You will design fixtures, run standardized tests, document procedures, and help engineers with test needs in a dynamic lab environment.

You will troubleshoot equipment, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and generate clear test reports. Strong mechanical/electrical knowledge and LabVIEW are highly valued.

Job description

Purpose of Position

As a Lab Technician II for Red Jacket Engineering, you will be responsible for environmental compliance, lab maintenance, troubleshooting lab equipment, performing cycle, reliability and performance testing and general support of the engineering staff for any test needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, fabricate and assemble fixtures needed to perform tests that are requested by the engineering department.
  • Perform standardized tests that relate directly to operating performance of company products.
  • Create standard work and document standardized test procedures.
  • Perform non – standard tests in a manner that promotes quality and repeatability of test results.
  • Evaluate results and make recommendations concerning test procedures and the gathered data.
  • Present test results in a good report form for engineering and other departments to evaluate.
  • Work with the procurement group to procure materials, tools, supplies and equipment necessary for testing products and fixtures.
  • Maintain logs to assure EHS compliance (sensor reports, inspections, tank reports)
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair lab equipment when necessary.
  • Work independently in a hazardous environment in a safe manner while ensuring environmental compliance.
  • General estimations of resources, equipment and supplies related to project test requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Background and Skill

Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field. Experience in new product testing environment or fueling site construction/installation work related to fuel pumping applications preferred.

  • Must be able to perform light to moderate machining and fabrication of metals and plastics.
  • Experience with power tools and machinery.
  • Must have an understanding of principles relating to the mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic and pneumatic fundamentals.
  • Must be able to perform testing in an unbiased manner with emphasis on quality and repeatability.
  • Must have experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Good organizational and housekeeping skills and punctuality are required.
  • Programming experience using National Instruments LabVIEW data acquisition equipment is needed
  • Ability to perform frequent lifting, standing and bending while operating year round in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical hardware knowledge, experience and background is preferred
