Job summary

Norfolk Southern is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor Trainee in Indiana for a six-month field-and-classroom training program. You will supervise 8–25 workers, learn locomotive and railcar inspections, and gain exposure to AAR and FRA standards.

Post-training, you will be promoted to Mechanical Supervisor at a locomotive shop or freight car facility, with relocation options across the NS network and ongoing safety-focused development.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Leadership role
• Mechanical Aptitude
• Preferred Degree Paths: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar field of study

Responsibilities

• Lead world-class teams of 8-25 skilled workers on locomotives and railcars.
• Learn inspections and repairs at component level for locomotives and railcars.
• Complete six-month training program and transition to Mechanical Supervisor at a locomotive shop or freight car facility.
