Norfolk Southern is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor Trainee in a fast‑paced field‑oriented program. You will lead teams handling locomotives and railcars, learn inspections and repairs, and study NS, AAR, and FRA standards during a six‑month training period.

Relocation is required; after training, placement will be determined by business needs. This role emphasizes leadership, safety, and advancing to a Mechanical Supervisor at a shop or repair facility.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Leadership role.
• Mechanical Aptitude.
• Preferred Degree Paths: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar field of study.

Responsibilities

• Lead field teams of 8–25 workers in locomotive and railcar work.
• Learn to conduct inspections and repairs at component level on locomotives and railcars.
• Learn NS, AAR, FRA standards and participate in process improvements.
• Six‑month training with classroom and on‑the‑job supervisory training; promotion to supervisor thereafter.
