Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Mechanical Project Team Leader in Indiana to drive mechanical retrofit projects end‑to‑end. You will coordinate mechanics and subcontractors, support sales with estimates, secure new work, and manage the financial health of your portfolio.

You will balance development and execution while ensuring safety, compliance with codes, and on‑time project delivery. This leadership role requires strong communication and a hands‑on, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of technical and operational knowledge of the service business, especially retrofit/remodel/tenant improvement projects.
• Experience leading Mechanics on projects up to $2M (Level 1) or $3–4M (Level 2).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to a non‑technical audience.
• Proficiency with project management software and financial accounting systems.
• Willingness to travel as required across geography.
• Two to four years of engineering or trade school training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and manage assigned mechanical retrofit projects per Johnson Controls standard practices.
• Coordinate mechanics and subcontractors to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
• Secure new work and change orders by identifying scope opportunities and preparing proposals.
• Estimate mechanical work, perform estimate reviews, and support pre‑bid reviews with Sales.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise resources needed to staff the project team.
• Review contract terms and coordinate drawings for proper installation.
• Analyze financial reporting and project schedules to identify risk and develop recovery plans.
• Provide cost and estimate analyses and communicate progress to management.
