Job summary

EMCOR Group in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Project Intern, Mechanical to support the Project Team with coordinating project information and document control. The intern will assist with bid review, turnover documentation, scheduling, takeoffs and data management while working under the Project Manager on diverse commercial and government projects.

Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential; a Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management focus is preferred for this

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in driving project flow from inception to completion.
• Review contract and bid documents; understand scope for turnover and attend walk-throughs.
• Support document control: insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders and correspondence.
• Ensure documents are centrally saved in the project’s document control system.
• Assist with project scheduling and linking to manpower and timelines.
• Track deliveries of major equipment and subs and verify delivery notices.
• Assist with material takeoffs by trade foremen.
• Support accounting in monthly billings and collections; follow up on balances.
• Collaborate with foreman on project safety and toolbox talks.
• Assist with changes in work and turnover pricing; ensure approvals before work starts.
• Obtain as-builts from field and help close out projects.
