Job summary

Greif is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer II to lead multiple medium‑complexity projects in a manufacturing setting. You will design layouts, specify assets, and drive process improvements from concept through implementation across the regional network.

The role requires hands‑on mechanical/electrical experience, project management skills, and the ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Travel is extensive.

Qualifications

• Typically possesses Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Preferred).
• Advanced degree a plus.
• 5-7+ years of Project Engineering in manufacturing environment with practical expertise in mechanical, electrical engineering.
• Hands-on experience with setup, troubleshooting, changeover, automation, and die optimization.
• Experience with new product development, design, trials, and material selection.
• Basic electrical experience as relates to control of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Manages development and execution of several concurrent medium complexity projects (2+ MUSD).
• Designs and develops basic mechanical layouts for products or processes.
• Defines and drafts project technical requirements specification and hand over packages.
• Develops projects to optimize manufacturing processes and lean workflows.
• Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate project execution.
• Provides technical consultation to plant maintenance on installation, troubleshooting, and control systems.
• Occasionally relocates to facilities to implement robust improvement plans.
