Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Project Designer in Charlotte, NC. You will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high complexity work, providing engineering solutions and advice to clients.

This position focuses on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for the vertical building industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years in commercial building design consulting; 4+ preferred.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Proficiency in BIM software (Revit) and MS Office.
• Ability to supervise staff and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards.
• Interact with clients to gather requirements and maintain relationships.
• Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines.
• Document design decisions and monitor progress and fee expenditure.
• Analyze problems and develop practical, efficient solutions with senior staff.
• Provide in-process reviews of designs, calculations, and specifications.
• Implement IMEG quality control processes to meet standards.
• Stay current on industry trends and contribute to R&D within IMEG.
• Prioritize safety in all engineering work and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and PMs for integrated solutions.
• Identify potential project problems and oversee bidding and construction admin.
