Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern to perform tasks applying standard engineering techniques and procedures. You will assist lead engineers, update designs, and contribute to design of electrical systems across Transmission & Distribution projects in Charlotte, NC.

The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET preferred), strong communication, problem solving, and leadership, plus basic MS Office skills; prior internship or related consulting

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Assist lead engineers with various project duties.
  • Correct and update designs and participate in project work across market segments.
  • Contribute to design of engineering systems and other duties as assigned.
