Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Charlotte, NC. You will support lead engineers with standard design tasks, update designs, and assist on varied projects across Power and other markets. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

We value students pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree, with ABET accreditation preferred and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Prior internship and leadership involvement are a plus, and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in a related post-secondary program.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus or community activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated with a desire to grow in the field.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead engineers with project duties and design tasks.
• Perform tasks applying standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Support development and updating of engineering designs.
• Contribute to team efforts across different market segments, including Power.
• Prepare basic analyses and documentation using common software tools.
