Job summary

S&B in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Mechanical Engineer Intern who, under close supervision, performs routine design tasks using standard techniques and criteria.

You will assist senior engineers on EPC projects, gain hands-on experience in equipment design, field data collection, and vendor coordination within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

This internship offers exposure to safety, quality, and project delivery in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Internship requires completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies pursuing Mechanical Engineering.
• Must have working knowledge of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment.
• Previous internship experience is preferred, but not required. Must possess the eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepares basic design sketches and performs calculations in support of broader design activities involving the design of equipment, components, structures, or systems.
• Conducts field trips to existing plants to gather operating data and equipment information.
• Gathers data to help prepare equipment specifications, inquiry and purchase requisitions for approval.
• Evaluates vendors' bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications for simple equipment and specialty items.
• Participates in the preparation of equipment lists, piping line lists and specialty item lists.
• Participates in preparation of design guides, guide specifications and contract proposals.
• Participates in plant Start-ups.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (in progress)
