Job summary

DLR Group's Mid-Atlantic Region is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027, based in Charlotte, NC. You will join the Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) program and assist in designing mechanical systems for diverse building projects, under mentorship from licensed engineers.

Qualifications

• Ongoing enrollment in an ABET‑accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Familiarity with BIM workflow and Autodesk Revit MEP is preferred.
• FE exam is a plus.
• Third‑year engineering student is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects.
• Attend design team meetings and observe coordination within a multi‑disciplinary design team.
• Assist with design and development of construction documents using Revit.
• Visit an active construction site (contingent on project status).
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
