Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in the Mid-Atlantic region. The role is based in Charlotte, NC, and sits within the EPX program to provide hands-on design experience within an integrated design firm.

You will collaborate with engineers across architecture, engineering, and interiors to develop mechanical systems for new buildings and renovations, gaining exposure through meetings, site visits, and project documentation using Revit.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
• Experience or interest in BIM workflow (Autodesk Revit MEP).
• FE exam passed (preferred).
• Third-year student in an accredited engineering program (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for projects.
• Attend design team meetings and observe multidisciplinary coordination.
• Assist with design and development of construction documents using Revit.
• Visit an active construction site (contingent on project status).
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
