Job summary

DLR Group in Dallas and Houston seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the South Central Region to contribute to mechanical design for buildings, collaborating with engineers and other disciplines from concept through construction documentation.

The EPX Program offers mentorship, hands-on project work, and weekly learning sessions during May 18 – Aug 6, 2027. This paid, full-time internship provides real-world experience in a collaborative design environment.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Experience or interest in BIM workflows (e.g., Autodesk Revit MEP).

Responsibilities

• Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects
• Attend design team meetings with a mechanical engineer and observe coordination within a multi-disciplinary team
• Assist a mechanical engineer with the design and development of construction documents primarily using Revit
• Visit an active construction site (contingent on the status of local construction projects)
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion
