Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op in Philadelphia, PA for a Summer 2027 internship. You will work with engineers on design, analysis, and oversight of mechanical systems for education projects, gaining hands-on experience in a 3-12 month program.

The role offers paid, mentored work with collaboration across disciplines, project budgeting, and client-facing support. Prior internship experience in building design is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong interest in design consulting.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of discipline-system projects according to code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources.
• Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent-record documentation.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier disciplines.
• Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring design progress.
• Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.
• Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement.
