Job summary

American Canning Machines LLC is seeking a Mechanical/Design Engineer to own production‑released designs after the 3D model stage and manage the BOMs and revisions. You will drive engineering changes through release and serve as the technical backstop for our support team on advanced machine issues.

You’ll collaborate with supply chain on sourcing, coordinate with compliance and testing labs, and travel occasionally for field research and supplier visits.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or an associate degree with hands‑on experience.
• 3 to 5 years in manufacturing, sustaining, or design engineering.
• High proficiency in SolidWorks including production‑ready modeling.
• Working knowledge of ECO/ECN processes.
• Strong Microsoft skills: Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Keep CAD models, drawings, and engineering files organized and current with conventions for part numbering, file naming, and revision control.
• Refine rough 3D models into production‑ready detailed CAD models.
• Turn SolidWorks models into 2D drawings with GD&T and assembly notes.
• Document mechanical assemblies with correct materials and manufacturing constraints.
• Own the engineering release process in SolidWorks PDM (check‑in, revisions, ECO/ECN).
• Build and maintain multi‑level BOMs across assemblies, control panels, and electrical enclosures.
• Troubleshoot advanced mechanical, electrical, and controls issues on customer machines and implement design fixes.
• Coordinate with supply chain on component sourcing and ECO documentation for changes.
