Job summary

Bsdbusinessconsulting in Fitchburg, MA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, test, and improve electro-mechanical products from concept through production. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure functionality, quality, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities include drafting, CAD modeling, prototyping, GD&T, BOMs, and supporting tooling and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering or product design experience.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Experience developing mechanical components from design through production.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• ITAR and/or CUI compliance: US citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals per 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electro-mechanical products.
• Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Build prototypes, run testing, and refine designs based on results.
• Apply GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards to engineering drawings.
• Select materials and components based on performance, durability, and cost.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders, and technical documentation.
• Support production with troubleshooting, design improvements, and manufacturing challenges.
• Assist with tooling, fixtures, and product improvements that make manufacturing more efficient.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams on design requirements and project updates.
