Job summary

Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp., in Minneapolis, Minnesota, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead high-level product design for motors, generators, and magnetic drives. You will support orders from proposal through design, development, manufacturing, testing and field service.

You will work in a team, develop design standards, manage project plans, provide input on financial planning, supervise engineers or drafts, review customer specs, and travel as needed to sites.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with machine design emphasis preferred.
• 2–3+ years’ experience in design or development of large motors/generators or equivalent complexity.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office; strong thermal/mechanical analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains design standards for mechanical design analysis and reduces design lead times.
• Manages project plans for product development per company strategy; drives to completion.
• Reviews customer specifications and provides technical advice; may visit customer sites for application of design technology.
• Directs standardized models to reduce design cost and time; supports other departments.
