Job summary

Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced IMSR reactors, seeks a Mechanical Engineer/Analyst – Model Development to advance design and analysis of reactor materials and components through detailed engineering.

Lead development of custom models, perform advanced simulations, and collaborate with R&D to translate experimental results into robust engineering tools, ensuring safe, reliable reactor performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of mechanical and materials modelling and analysis experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanics of materials and materials science fundamentals.
  • Experience with ANSYS Mechanical or other commercial FEA software (ANSYS Mechanical APDL preferred).
  • Programming experience for data processing or automation (Python, C, Fortran, C++).
  • Knowledge of fatigue, creep, dynamic and static analyses (linear and nonlinear).
  • Ability to work independently and in teams; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement custom engineering models to predict behavior and integrity of reactor materials and components.
  • Prepare models, calculations and reports for analysis of reactor components under irradiation, fatigue, creep and thermal loads.
  • Develop code/tools to build custom analysis capabilities and automate simulations.
  • Collaborate with R&D to translate results into models; plan experiments as needed.
  • Interface with external experts and regulatory bodies and participate in industry conferences.
