Job summary

Terrestrial Energy is hiring in the US for a senior mechanical engineer to support the IMSR project portfolio. You will prepare analyses for mechanical systems, develop design classifications, and participate in design reviews, interfacing with disciplines and vendors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of work experience in the design of mechanical systems, preferably in nuclear.
• PE Certification, or eligible to obtain a PE Certification.
• Familiarity with nuclear pressure boundary codes including ASME Section III Division 1, CSA N285.0 and ASME B31.1.
• Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
• Ability to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations, analyses and assessment documents for system and equipment design.
• Prepare design classification, design requirements and design summary reports.
• Participate in and contribute to design reviews.
• Coordinate with disciplines to understand interfaces and design(s).
• Develop 3D CAD interfaces with the plant layout lead for mechanical systems.
• Address mechanical design challenges and risks with timely resolutions.
• Support work of other disciplines and cross-team collaboration.
• Present to interdisciplinary team and external stakeholders.
• Interface with vendors, design agencies, experts, clients and regulators as required.
• Oversee vendor deliverables and participate in reviews.
• Contribute to schedules, cost estimates, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Mentor junior team members and assist in team development.
