Job summary

MIKEL seeks a Mechanical Engineer II to support design, analysis, documentation, and product development of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for Navy-focused programs. The role collaborates with the Undersea Warfare Center and cross-functional teams to advance concepts to deployment.

Responsibilities include CAD modeling, CAE analysis (thermal, structural, CFD), prototyping, and documentation. A BE or higher in engineering is required, with 2–4 years in a regulated industry and a path

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, mechanical or electrical, ABET-accredited.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience in a DoD or regulated environment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and document R&D, testing, and evaluation of mechanical/electro-mechanical systems from concept to deployment.
  • Perform trade-space evaluations of weight, size, cost, strength/depth; assess COTS items for suitability.
  • Collaborate with DoW, Navy personnel, and suppliers across programs.
  • Create 3D models and drawings using CAD tools; guide docs through NAVSEA config management.
  • Develop reports, procedures, test plans, statements of work, and other docs.
  • Build, troubleshoot, and test prototypes with technicians.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, acquisition, and logistics to source components.
