Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Eden Prairie, MN, to join a cross-functional design team working on power conversion and thermal management solutions. You will translate concepts into manufacturable hardware, supporting from conception through production release.

You will collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders, applying CAD skills, DFMA principles, and tolerance analysis to deliver reliable electronics cooling products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–5 years of related design experience in electronic systems.
• Strong CAD and DFMA knowledge.
• Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 and tolerance stackup analysis.
• Experience with numerical analysis software: ANSYS, CFD-ACE+, COMSOL.
• Ability to self-manage projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a team to balance time and scope to meet specs and schedule.
• Design, analyze, and document cooling mechanisms (cold plates, heat sinks).
• Model heat transfer for air- and water-cooled systems and validate simulations.
• Create GD&T drawings and perform dimensional tolerance analyses.
• Specify experiments to prove and monitor design concepts.
• Incorporate DFx (DFM/DFA) to minimize part count and maximize manufacturability.
• Design products with sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extrusion, stamping, and 3D printing.
