Job summary

Advanced Energy seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and support electronics cooling solutions, from concept through production release. You will work with a cross-functional team on heat sinks, cold plates, and associated thermal analyses, interfacing with vendors and end-users worldwide.

The role emphasizes manufacturability, testability, and cost control, with involvement in design for assembly and materials selection. U.S. office-based position providing growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong CAD and GD&T knowledge; experience with DFx/astype for manufacturability.
• Familiarity with thermal/structural analyses and materials science.
• Experience with numerical analysis software (ANSYS, CFD tools).

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a team, balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands.
• Performs the design, analysis, and documentation of cold plates, heat sinks, and other typical electronics cooling mechanisms.
• Models and design of heat transfer related to air- and water-cooled electronic systems, including tests to validate simulations/calculations.
• Create mechanical models/drawings to GD&T standards and perform complex analyses of dimensional tolerance.
• Specify experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts.
• Design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA); minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability and serviceability.
• Design products and subcomponents on with typical manufacturing methods for sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extruding, stamping, and 3D printing.
