Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join an energy/industrial team working on large-scale projects, including midstream and downstream applications. You will focus on mechanical equipment sizing, piping components, and hands-on project execution from concept through commissioning.

The role requires 4–5 years of experience, strong collaboration with SMEs, designers, and trades, and willingness to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with mechanical equipment sizing and selection.
• Understanding of piping systems and mechanical piping components.
• Experience on industrial, energy, manufacturing, or similar mechanical engineering projects.
• Strong ability to review engineering designs and identify potential issues or required changes.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, designers, drafters, SMEs, and trades.
• Comfortable working independently, thinking on your feet, and developing solutions when project requirements change.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from development through commissioning and services.
• Perform mechanical equipment sizing and selection based on project requirements.
• Apply knowledge of mechanical components and piping systems to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Review engineering designs and drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
• Work closely with designers and drafters to provide technical direction and review updated drawings/models.
• Review and redline drawings when changes or corrections are required.
• Collaborate with SMEs, trades, electrical, automation, and structural engineering teams to develop project solutions.
• Support design changes and help determine practical solutions when project requirements evolve.
• Communicate with internal teams, vendors, and other project stakeholders through email and project discussions.
• Help organize project work and ensure engineering deliverables are moving forward.
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to the broader project team.
• Over time, gain exposure to clients, inspectors, and third-party stakeholders as project responsibilities expand.
• Travel to project sites as needed to support active projects and gain firsthand experience with equipment and installations.
