Job description

Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in greater Seattle, WA area. Their Gas Systems division is the largest part of the business and focuses on custom, build-to-order industrial systems used in energy, gas handling, and emerging markets like data centers and hydrogen.

They’re hiring a Project Engineer due to growth and increasing project complexity. In practical terms, this role is about owning the mechanical engineering execution of a project from concept through commissioning.

Employment Type: Full-time permanent

Location: Greater Seattle, WA

Compensation: $100,000 - $125,000 base + full benefits (see below)

What You’ll Do
  • Defining system designs and engineering deliverables based on customer requirements.
  • Managing engineering plans, schedules, and project deliverables across the full lifecycle.
  • Selecting and sizing mechanical components such as valves, pumps, blowers, and heat exchangers.
  • Translating conceptual designs into manufacturable solutions with fabrication teams.
  • Reviewing fabrication drawings, piping layouts, and assembly documentation.
  • Developing P&IDs, bills of materials, test plans, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Supporting compliance with applicable engineering codes and safety standards.
  • Monitoring project risks, schedules, and budgets.
  • Supporting factory testing and commissioning activities.
  • Acting as a technical resource for internal teams, vendors, and customers.

This is a hands‑on engineering role - not purely design. You’ll regularly interact with fabricators and need to be comfortable solving real‑world problems as they come up.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in project engineering within manufacturing or OEM environments.
  • Strong mechanical design and industrial systems experience.
  • Proven ability to size and specify mechanical components.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards and pressure vessel or related codes is preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Excel.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with gas systems, thermal/process equipment, or industrial fluid systems.
  • Background in energy or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to fabrication‑floor collaboration and commissioning activities.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls concepts.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-site projects.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
  • Opportunity to work on complex industrial systems.
  • Collaborative engineering and manufacturing culture.
  • Long‑term growth opportunities within a stable organization.
