Job summary

Innova Solutions seeks a Mechanical Engineer in Palm Bay, FL for a 12-month contract to hire. The role involves design, development and testing of precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware, with field and lab responsibilities.

Job description

Mechanical Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time Contract, Contract to hire. Duration: 12 months. Location: Palm Bay, FL 32905.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

• Perform process design, development, and qualification/testing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware, in a program team environment.
• Own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as the program evolves.
• Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing may be required.
• Experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development and the ability to work independently within a multi-disciplined team environment.
• Lab environment and be hands‑on with hardware.

Essential Functions

• Provide regular communication and briefings, both formally and informally, to internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives.
• Generation of Technical Data Package components (Part and Assembly drawings, etc.).
• Prototype, Integrate, and Test component parts and assemblies.
• Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
• Perform test and evaluation of component parts and systems.
• Participate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews.
• Participate in product change review meetings and discussions and implement changes.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design teams and reviews.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, quality, etc.
• Direct Designers, Technicians, and Operators as part of a design team.
• Support field testing/demonstration efforts as an ME field representative.

Security Clearance

This Position needs Active TS/SCI CI Poly Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms mechatronic systems packaging of modules and electronics, consideration of thermal and structural loading, optimizations for size, weight, and power.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
• Experience with any of the following: actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, and materials testing.
• Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) experience.
• Experience with machined part design plastic and/or sheet metal part design.
• Manufacturing technologies and design best practices.
• Understanding of EVMS cost and schedule practices.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will have Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Qualified candidates must be able to engage on a W-2 basis.

Pay Range and Benefits

Pay Range*: $60-$65 per hour *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
