Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Designer/EIT to coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial/institutional projects in the Pittsburgh area. You will prepare HVAC loads, write specifications, and develop BIM documentation using CAD software and Revit, while collaborating with architects and engineers.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (Master's in Architectural Engineering preferred) and an EIT; local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is preferred or will be pursued for career progression.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
• Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
• Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices
• Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and size/select mechanical equipment
• Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports
• Assist in the development, production, and issuance of BIM documentation using CAD software
• Work independently on small projects, and/or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
• Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
• Take responsibility for construction contract administration including shop drawings, RFIs, field inspections, and conflict resolution
• Perform other duties as needed
