Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical EIT/Coordinator to join our Building Engineering Services Group in Chicago.

You will coordinate mechanical design for commercial/institutional projects, develop HVAC loads and energy analyses, and prepare construction documents for HVAC/plumbing systems. You will work with engineers of all levels, potentially supervise CAD Technicians, and support contract administration through field inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
• Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
• Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices
• Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and mechanical equipment selections
• Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports
• Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
• Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
• Take responsibility for construction contract administration requiring field inspections and conflict resolution
• Perform other duties as needed
