Job summary

United Future is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Morris County, NJ. The role focuses on designing water and wastewater equipment in SolidWorks, developing fabrication drawings, and guiding builds from concept to release.

You will work closely with fabrication shop staff to optimize designs, particularly conveyors, and you will support the project engineer on orders while ensuring designs are practical and built right the first time. This is a fully onsite position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3–4 years of mechanical design experience with SolidWorks or similar.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and able to produce fabrication drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and detail-oriented drawing ability.
• Local to northern New Jersey; willing to work fully onsite in Morris County; relocation not offered.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater equipment in SolidWorks and create fabrication drawings for shop.
• Determine how to build customer-specified equipment, including new designs.
• Manage conveyor designs from requirements through released drawings.
• Visit fabrication shop to review plans and resolve build questions with fabricators.
• Prepare drawings for outside fabricators and support project engineer on order needs.
• Ensure details are correct before release so equipment fits first time.
