Job summary

Transdev North America in DeKalb, IL is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician A to diagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline and diesel engines across a range of vehicles. You will perform diagnostic tests, routine PMs, and lead repairs with accuracy.

The role requires 4–5 years of mechanic experience, ASE certification eligibility provided by the company, and a strong toolset. This is an on-site position with competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of experience as a Mechanic.
  • ASE certifications required; company provides ASE certification program.
  • Mechanic’s tool set proficiency.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose issues by conducting tests and determine repairs on engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with team for efficient and accurate repairs.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to identify complex issues for gas and diesel engines.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and engine repairs, including overhauls.
  • Mentor junior technicians and assist in skills development.
  • Other duties as required.

Maintenance Technician A (III)

Transdev in DeKalb, IL is seeking an experienced A‑Level Mechanic to bolster our team. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gasoline and diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our assets.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly pay ranging from $29.00 to $42.00.

  • Vacation: minimum of 2 weeks
  • Sick days: 5 days
  • Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating)

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for gas and diesel engines.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing skills and knowledge.
