Position Overview

Transdev in Redding, CA is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role requires expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. The Diesel Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity of our diesel-powered assets.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting pay of $32.32/hour, with progression to $33.32/hour over 1 year (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement PayScale).
  • Vacation: 1 week first year, increasing to 2 weeks in years 2-7, 3 weeks in years 8-15, and 4 weeks after 15+ years.
  • Paid Sick Leave: 1 week per year.
  • Medical, Dental & Vision insurance after 90 days for full-time employees, life insurance, 401(k), and company holidays.
  • Company paid ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
  2. Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
  3. Collaborate with team members for efficient and accurate repairs.
  4. Complete preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual inspections.
  5. Lead diagnostic tests for complex issues and develop comprehensive repair strategies.
  6. Perform advanced troubleshooting, overhauling, and rebuilding of diesel engine components.
  7. Mentor junior technicians, supporting their skill development.
  8. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • ASE certifications required; program provided if needed.
  • Mechanic’s Tool Set.
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to work shifts.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical, with compliance to DOT regulations.
Physical Requirements

The role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions, sitting for long periods, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in heavy traffic and dusty environments. Accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
