Job summary

New Seasons Market is seeking a Meat Assistant Manager in Oregon to partner with the Meat and Seafood Manager and lead daily department operations. The role emphasizes customer service, product knowledge, and adherence to safety and merchandising standards.

In this position you will oversee staff, maintain stock levels, coordinate displays, and ensure quality cuts and timely inventory. A background in meat/fabrication and supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience required.
• Knowledge of retail Meat and Seafood departments preferred; butcher shop or meat fabrication experience acceptable.
• Prior meat cutting / fabrication experience highly preferred.
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Entry to mid-level proficiency with MS Office; working knowledge with POS, inventory or other retail software preferred.
• Financial acumen regarding sales and margin preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Partners with department manager to operate all areas of the department; prioritizes and delegates tasks and production.
• Ensures department conditions are consistent; shelves stocked, rotated, faced and aligned with standards.
• Maintains inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals; orders product as needed.
• Cuts, trims and processes Meat and Seafood items to company standards.
• Builds displays and arranges products to create attractive presentations per standards.
• Implements weekly ads, events and holiday plans.
• Maintains professional vendor relationships.
• Coordinates with Operations to conduct in-store tastings.
• Ensures customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
• Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality and quantity; reports issues.
• Stocks and rotates products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
• Maintains organization of back stock areas; ensures cleanliness.
• Wraps, weighs and prices Meat and Seafood items per policy.
• Assists customers with selection; shares product knowledge and makes recommendations.
• Adheres to organic standards where applicable; supports inventory counts and accuracy.
• Demonstrates ability to multi-task, manage time, and adapt to store needs.
• Supports communication within department and store.
• Complies with safety, attendance and company policies.
