Job summary

Kroger is seeking an attentive Meat department leader to drive exceptional customer service, maintain safety and quality, and meet department goals. This role focuses on staff development, scheduling, inventory control, and executing promotional plans to boost sales.

Responsibilities include training associates, enforcing safety standards, coordinating budget reviews, and ensuring product quality and accurate pricing across the department.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Current food handlers permit.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Meat/retail or management experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products; respond to questions and locate items.
