Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Meat Department Leader to deliver outstanding customer experience while maintaining a safe, clean environment and achieving department sales and profit goals. You will supervise, schedule, and train associates, ensuring product quality, fresh inventory, and proper temperature controls across the department.

The role emphasizes staff development, in-store promotions, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

Excellent oral/written communication required.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork.
Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and informed about products in the department and store.
Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action.
Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
Plan and organize the inventory process and CAO training for staff.
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain temperature logs.
Adhere to safety programs and report safety risks or incidents.
